Diana Bolton
“My Front Door”
The official opening invitation is extended for Friday 29th April 5.30pm – 7.00pm at the gallery.
Inspiration for the exhibition is the world around me. It started with a still life painting of self-set zinnias from my garden. A second painting was planned to be a still life featuring a blood swamp gum that had an abundance of flowers. The birds had a different idea and dined on the flower heads, especially the lorikeets. One of the lorikeets became the first watercolour painting with many other birds to follow as I changed tack.
During the last flood, I started painting the wetland birds that inhabited our place; ducks, herons, rails, coots and swans, spoonbills, magpie geese and many more that had migrated to the water.
This started my journey of painting birds. – A never-ending resource for painting.
