The “Antfest 2023 – A Thousand Words” exhibition, organised by Jumping Ant Arts, promises a rich display of artistic expression and creativity, making it an event worth attending for anyone interested in the arts in the South Burnett region.
The theme of this annual exhibition is “A Thousand Words,” inspired by the adage that “a picture paints a thousand words.” Artists have explored and interpreted this theme in various ways, providing written statements for their exhibits to share their thoughts and connections to the theme.
Featured Artists and Mediums
The exhibition will showcase a diverse range of art forms and crafts from members of Jumping Ant Arts. Some featured artists and their mediums include:
– Carmel Nott and Fran van Vegchel: Woodcut prints and concertina books.
– Suzi Wells: Watercolors.
– Diana Bolton, Susan Devitt, and Darryl Jones: Acrylic paintings.
– Paul van Vegchel and Catherine Woodham: Mixed media works.
– Judith Brooks: Hand-hooked rugs.
– Sam Blanch: Digital art.
– Melody Cook: Handmade pine needle baskets.
– Fay Stumm: Creative ceramics.
– Dichroic jewellery handmade by members will also be available for sale.
Noel Miller’s Featured Exhibition
In addition to the works by Jumping Ant Arts members, the exhibition will feature the works of Brisbane mixed media artist Noel Miller throughout November. Noel Miller has an impressive track record, having been a finalist and winner in various prestigious art awards and exhibitions. He has held numerous solo exhibitions and has even been an artist in residence in Gothenburg, Sweden.
