The Gallery will be celebrating the South Burnett Art Collection in March, with a new themed exhibition running from March 1 to 29. It will be a curtain-raiser to the $5,000 David Bryce Rural Art Award in April and May and this special collection will be on display.
David Bryce, is possibly our most celebrated artist. Examples of his work are held by the Queensland Art Gallery and our Gallery holds his archive. As the upcoming Rural Art Award carries his name a selection of his paintings, ceramics and wood carvings from the South Burnett Art Collection will be a major element of the March exhibition.
Additionally to the special David Bryce Collection, there will be recent acquisitions by various artists on display. The works have been acquired for the Collection over the past five years.
The South Burnett Regional Council Art collection includes many fine paintings and objects, and is a peerless social record of everyday life in our region, reflecting our changing interests, landscape and community.
