“Dotted amongst the South Burnett landscape are these Rusty relics of yesteryear trying to stay upright. They are often full of Rusty old farm machinery and equipment. Some of these barns will be recognisable, and I am sure you may have passed some on River Rd and the Barkers Creek flats.
I am drawn to the rust colour and shadows and light on these barns. I use my favourite colours of Aussie red gold, and burnt sienna along with ultramarine blue and alizarin crimson for the shadows. It was intentional to make the barns the hero of the painting, they stand alone with not too much fuss around them.
I hope you enjoy and appreciate the beauty of these *Rusty Relics* “
Ina Patterson.
Living in the South Burnett is a privilege for an artist and allows me to draw from its natural pallet in my works’ influence. I love the spontaneity of the mediums I use to create my art, In particular, watercolour. To me, it is a medium that evokes emotions and atmosphere, being able to portray the dark and the light in either a chaotic or subtle fashion.
I also love painting in acrylics, with which I push and pull the medium until I get the desired effect and vibrancy of colour!
I have also dabbled with other mediums over the years, such as alcohol inks and woodburning. Alcohol inks possess a unique quality of vibrancy and an application similar to that of watercolour. My creativity knew no bounds with painting on tiles, glass, and silks.
As you can see, my involvement and love of art has been as varied as it has been long. My passion drives me to experiment and learn all I can to continue my art journey into the future.
