Emerging Expressions: Junior and Senior Art Showcase

Students at Kingaroy State High School have the opportunity to study Art from Year 8-12. This Exhibition is a curation of resolved artworks, created and displayed by students.

Senior Art –
The Year 12 Visual Art cohort curate a selection of artworks, through the compilation of learnt techniques and skills, which explore all the big issues facing a contemporary world in 2023: mental health, the passing of time and the toll our actions are taking on our health and the environment.

While students in Year 12 Visual Arts in Practice explore the applied outlets for their artistic practice, exhibiting illustrated picture books, marketable art and sculpture.

To begin their senior studies, Year 11 Visual Arts in Practice have journeyed through printmaking and will finish with community art, including mural designs and installation sculpture.

Junior Art
The junior classes experiment with the elements and principles of art using various mediums and techniques to refine their art
making.

Every student in Year 8 has the opportunity to study Visual Arts. Starting with the basics of colour, line, shape and texture, students
explore pattern and repetition in their ‘Sgraffito’ work, before transferring these skills into three-dimensional clay work.

Students can elect to take Visual Art in Year 9 and 10, with the selection of curated artwork demonstrating various drawing techniques and styles, including
